Over the years, Arcoplastica has made significant investments in energy efficiency. This choice is in line with the company vision that sees the circular economy as a core element of business development.
Our factory is equipped with:
•a photovoltaic system that uses surplus solar energy sent to the grid. – Total electricity consumption: 115kWp. – Annual production: approx. 150,000 kWh (ref. year 2022).
•a trigeneration system capable of supplying on-site, electrical energy and thermal energy – high/low temperature – avoiding transport along the national distribution network and any consequent losses due to dissipation. – Electric power: 600kW – Thermal power: 650kW – Annual production: approx. 2,700,000 electrical kWh – approx. 2,600,000 thermal kWh – It is fuelled by natural gas and consumes approximately 650,000 m³ of gas per year.
The system meets high-efficiency cogeneration standards, producing electricity via an endothermic engine. Thermal energy is recovered through the heat exchanger system.
High-temperature heat is used for heating the work rooms; any surplus is converted to low-temperature heat via a lithium bromide absorption refrigeration system. The cold water thus produced is fed directly into the process circuits. This reduces the use of compressor chillers, which are only activated to support the main system.

ACTIONS IMPLEMENTED IN LINE WITH IMPROVEMENT GOALS ACCORDING TO OUR ISO 14001 CERTIFIED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:
New LED luminaires were installed in place of fluorescent lamps, which means a higher average lux level in each department, lower energy consumption and a longer service life.
A new centralised system with semi-automatic control of the suction paths and fan rotation frequency was installed. The system consists of several preliminary stages, including one with a high-voltage electrostatic filter. There is a main activated carbon filter with twice the capacity of the previous one.
To improve the new grinding system suctioning with a triboelectric probe installed at the chimney in order to have continuous and real time control of the emissions. The system is guaranteed for a maximum atmospheric emission of half the authorised threshold limit.
All low-voltage lines coming out of MV/LV transformers have been equipped with automatic capacitor power factor correction devices, operating on several steps, in order to reduce the phase shift and thus maximise the power factor.
