Production process

From granules to trays: an integrated process

Arcoplastica’s entire production process is managed at its plant in Andezeno (Turin).
It is an integrated system in which every single aspect of production is assessed and optimised throughout the supply chain cycle:
from the study and creation of the raw material, to design and manufacture of the customised mould and the final product,
up to the recovery and reintroduction of scrap into the production cycle. This is definitely a strong point and an additional guarantee for our customers.

EXTRUSION

3 production lines for extrusion and co-extrusion of mono-material and multi-layer plastics (up to 7 layers).

A PET, A PET monobarrier, A PET thermostable, A PET G-A-G, A PET-PE, A PET-EVOH-PE, C PET, PP, PP-EVOH-PP less type, PP-EVOH-PP more type, PP K -BLOCK, PP EVOH-PP K-BLOCK, PS, PS-PE, PS-EVOH-PE, COMPOSTABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE

THERMOFORMING

The thermoforming process makes it possible to mould (using vacuum and air pressure), sheets or foils of plastic material that have been previously heated and brought to the so-called softening point.
Arcoplastica and its subsidiary, Jollyplast, are equipped with 24 automatic and robot-operated thermoforming lines and 7 manual loading lines for large formats:

– Maximum format size on automatic lines 1000 x 800
– Maximum format size on manual sheet lines 2500 x 1500
– Thickness on manual sheet lines from 2mm to 8mm
– Thickness on automatic lines from 150 mm to 2500 m

Thermoforming of thermoplastics can be classified as follows:
Technical: Polystyrene, flocked polystyrene, ABS and ABS+PMMA; polypropylene and polyethylene; PVC, PET, PMMA and PC
Food packaging: PET and multilayer PET, PP and multilayer PP, PS and multilayer PS, PVC, PLA, Biopolymers.

OTHER TREATMENTS

3 lines mounted directly on the extrusion lines for better surface tension of the films (printed, multilayer, peelable and barrier) on extruded material of any type (PET, PS , PP). This process promotes adhesion of printing coatings to extruded films.

3 lines mounted directly on the extrusion lines. This process makes it possible to increase slip resistance, and, consequently, to better unstack the thermoformed products, which is extremely important when using automated/robotized packaging machines.

3 cutting lines mounted directly on the extrusion lines. A high-speed line for cutting plastics of all kinds and also other materials (e.g. paper) with the possibility of cutting up to 10 strips of different sizes simultaneously. Maximum cut strip size 1600 mm. Minimum cut strip size 60mm.

Offset printing in up to 6 colours on rectangular and round trays, printed sleeves available in four colours, aroma preservation lid labels.

High frequency, ultrasonic and hot welding.

Bonding and permanent polymerisation solutions.

The company is equipped with four 5-axis robotic cutting lines for accurate machining of technical and industrial parts.
